Kris is the American Idol!
Indulge me one last American Idol post. So happy!!! And shocked! I thought Adam was the winner for sure, but the humble, talented boy-next-door took it! Sigh. Love this kid. Kris had me at Falling Slowly and he just upped his game each week. I will buy his cd the day it comes out. I said it in an earlier post, but I will say it again: Adam may entertain me, but Kris moves me with his music. (And no Jack, it has nothing cougar-related to do with it. Not much anyways. I mean, the fact that he is eye candy doesn't hurt. Just sayin.)

American Idol Finals Tonight!
Awwww......our boy made it through to the finals! We are so excited in the McAfee house (well, the females in the house are, anyways.) Meghan, Claire and I actually voted last week for the first time all season. I even had two phones going at once for a little while! I mean, did you see last week's show and Kris's version of Kayne West's Heartless? SO AWESOME. LOVED IT! Very Jason Mraz-ish, and anyone who knows me knows I love me some Jason Mraz.
We are looking forward to tonight's final show. (Again, the females in the house, that is. Jack just roles his eyes at us.) Both Kris Allen and Adam Lambert are super talented and seem like really good guys. Either would make a great American Idol winner, but you know who all our votes are going to tonight! In fact, I've loaded my music player on the right with several of Kris's songs from this season. He is seriously the first person on American Idol who's CD I would buy. I have always loved the"boy and his guitar" artists: John Mayer, Jason Mraz, and lately, Matt Nathanson (oh, please check out this beautiful song!) So, it is no surprise that Kris Allen is my pick. Do you think we can get Jack to make calls tonight?
And on a sidenote, after Idol tonight, Meghan and I are excited to see this:
Does this not look awesome? Another show sucks Meghan and me in!

I'm baaaack!
Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I have just one thing to say on that matter: Do not mock swine, people. Seriously. I had some sort of flu (not sure if it was THE flu) and that turned into the mother of all sinus infections. That was 13 days ago and I am still feeling lingering sinus pressure/pain. Ugh. But enough of that.
Book club was last Wednesday. Love my book club night! We read this book:
And despite the glowing reviews on the jacket cover, we pretty much unanimously hated it. Obviously written by a man, there was so much gratuitious sex talk (without much actual sex ironically) that it drove me to boredom. Perhaps even more egregious was the lack of character development or much of a plot. The reviews proclaimed, "twists and turns" and suspense, but really, it was one major yawn-fest. The only redeeming quality was that it was a fast read and I didn't have to spend too much time on it. Next month's selection looks interesting, though the reviews on Amazon and B&N are not glowing. We will be reading:I will let you know what I thought when I finish it. This will be our last book club meeting before we break for summer. We will have a longer book to read over the summer months, but we won't meet up again until September. So, I am looking forward to making a dent in my stack of books that have slowly built up over time. I also would love to read some of Meghan's YA books. There are a few on her shelves that have caught my eye. In particular Meg Cabot's Airhead and Being Nikki. Maybe I will make a list and post it. And if anyone has read anything good lately, please comment! I am always looking for books that other people have read and loved.
