So without further ado, here are my goals for 2010:
1. The obligatory "lose 15 pounds".
So far this week I have not done much to further this cause. I walked/jogged 1.75 miles on Monday, had an hour long tennis drill yesterday and ........ATE EVERYTHING MY GRUBBY PAWS CAME ACROSS. The exercise part is always much easier for me than controlling what I eat. I know how to eat healthy....I just gotta do it. I will be using this book a lot.2. Update the house
We have been in our house 10 years now and it's starting to show. Right before Christmas we had the entire house painted with a nice warm beige (much darker than the off white it has been the prior 10 years) and it really looks good. My goal now is to do some other things in each room to update them and give a new fresh, look. Unfortunately wide-planked, distressed walnut floors for the entire downstairs are not in our budget (hello, college breathing down my neck). However, there are some other things I can do to each room to be happier with them. I think I am going to concentrate on one room each month for this entire year. If I spread it out, it is easier on my time and our pocketbook. We have 14 rooms in the house. I am happy with my dining room and Meg's room will only be her room for another 18 months, so I won't make any big changes there. So that leaves 12 rooms for 12 months. I will blog about each room as I go so you can see my updates. I am really hoping I stick with this one!! It would be nice at the end of the year to walk into any room in this house and breath a sigh of contentment.3. Blog more often!
I have already blogged about my renewed commitment here and why it's important to me. I am really going to make an effort to post lots more. You may have noticed the blog looking kind of plain lately. I want to do a makeover here too. I am not sure if that will involve me learning more about blog design, or simply me stumbling across a pre-made template that speaks to me, but I am looking to spruce things up here too. In the meantime, please forgive the lack of pretty.4. Spend more time on my creative endeavors
Rather it be my first love: quilting....or making gift buckets, or even learning how to use my fancy camera, I want to spend more time creating things. Making things makes me happy! I have no idea what I will do with all this stuff I want to make, but just making them gives me joy. I have so much beautiful fabric (now that is a post waiting to happen!) that I can hardly stand it. I need to let the dust bunnies lie some days and just go upstairs to my little table and do something that makes me happy! Call me out on this if I am not blogging about projects every so often!!
5. Keep in better touch with friends
This ties back to blogging somewhat. It is such a great vehicle for keeping people updated on my life. But, I need to be better about letting specific people know when I am thinking of them (much more often than my lack of communication communicates). I tend to put that kind of stuff off, and I need to realize that writing a two line email that says, "Hey, what's up? Thinking about you." is sometimes just as good as a 6 paragraph diatribe about everything and anything in my life. As an aside, I don't know if Facebook fits into this or not. What does everyone else think about Facebook? If you have thoughts, please leave a comment! I am so on the fence about this and I would love to hear your opinion. There is good (easy way to get quick updates from lots of people) and bad (OMG...friends coming out of the woodwork. And I use the term "friends" loosely....high school acquaintances I can't quite remember, my daughter's friends...Hello, you are 12....no you cannot be my friend... etc. ) So yay or nay on Facebook?
OK, I think that does it for my goals. Those are the big ones anyways! I really hope putting them out there in blogland forces me to stick with them. And if not, well, the poster above says it all. After all......planning is the fun and easy part. Now I have to work on the doing!

Hey Tracey-
Glad to see you're "blogging" again! Congratulations. Just think how wonderful it would be if we BOTH lost 15# by next Christmas.
Keep up the great work!!
Love,
Dad
Hi Tracey!
You go girl! Love the resolutions! Am especially interested in photos of the house updates since I am so far away...so I'll be checking the blog regularly. Just writing it all down is the first step!
Becky
so glad you are blogging again...yes I do check in on occaission! Your goals sound remarkably like mine. Instead of updating my house, I plan to replace some furniture, especially in the girls rooms. Definately going to focus on my quilting/crafting and create a business around that. Get back into shape, start a blog/website, and keep in touch with my tx friends and make new friends in ID. Feeling overwhelmed just thinking about it!
